Judges for the magazine’s highly regarded Best Places to Work in IT Awards ’08 chose Erudine as the clear winner in its category, noting in particular the company’s conviction that ‘IT workers are akin to artists’ as a central tenet of its inspirational work environment.

Harrogate-based Erudine walked away with this year’s award after first being shortlisted for 2007 title, and was selected for the 2008 award ahead of three-times winners Data Connection.

Award winners were chosen based on their perceived commitment to providing enjoyable, creative, and stimulating work environments for IT professionals. Criteria covered a wide range of issues, from professional development to work-life balance and a generally positive atmosphere.

Winning the award is evidence of just how far Erudine has come over the last 12 months, says Erudine CEO Martin Rice.

“The entire team – the company, the people, and the ideas – has moved on to a completely different level over the last year,” comments Martin.

“And yet, we’ve managed to keep the ethos that made Erudine such a wonderful place to work in the first place: that people are not replaceable units and should be given a work environment commensurate with the quality of output expected of them. In the case of Erudine, this is obviously very high indeed.”

The Best Places to Work in IT Awards ’08 was also a celebration of Yorkshire business. Along with Erudine, the IT division of Yorkshire Water took home the Utilities & Telecommunications title and the overall ‘Best of the Best’ award.

Previous winners have found the award offers a boost to the company image, raises staff morale, and helps to attract the best talent in the industry.
